I use a mixture of Cotton Linters, Flax and Abaca as the basic materials of my paper. Once these fibres have been processed into pulp I colour them. Iuse either DYES or PIGMENTS such as Ultramarine, Cadmium Red or Yellow Ochres and other Earth colours. Wiith a number of vats of different coloured pulps I proceed to create unique mullti-coloured sheets of paper.

PAPER LANDSCAPES: These are created from sheets of paper formed in the traditional manner ie: using a mould and deckle dipped into a vat of pulp. Several colours are couched on the same sheet reflecting a landscape theme.

Once a number of papers have been made they are put into a heavy press, to extract as much water as possible. After this the sheets are taken from their felts and left to dry.

The landscape picture is then completed with touches of acrylic paint.

POURED PULP WORKS: These are made by pouring the pulp on to the mould in a free painterly manner. Sometimes I make a shape with a figurative image and this is placed on the mould in order to control the flow of the pulp.

These works are also put into a heavy press to extract the large amount of water that is involved in the process. The final work is a piece of paper in which the image is an integral part of the sheet itself.
